LAS LOCAS COMEDY CELEBRATES THE END OF 2020!

This Saturday December 19, 2020, Las Locas Comedy is presenting ¡The DEUCES Show!, a live virtual comedy show that is celebrating the end of this LOCA year!  

We’re super excited to end the year with some of our favorite #locas4life Alicia Molina, Jessi Realzola and headliner Jesnaira Baez. We’re also introducing two new locas to the Las Locas familia, Chicago native Jackie Cooper and DC based comic Maria Jose Ovalle.

LAS LOCAS COMEDY RAISES MONEY FOR PILSEN FOOD PANTRY

On Saturday, November 21st, 2020, Las Locas Comedy hosted, ¡The Almost Done With 2020 Show!, a live virtual comedy show that benefited Pilsen Food Pantry. Due to the generosity of our show attendees, we were able to make a donation of $375 on behalf of Las Locas Comedy. This donation will go to support the immediate needs of Pilsen area residents this holiday season. 

Las Locas Comedy is grateful to our comics and fans for their continued support as we navigate the online performance space. Now more than ever, we need the shared laughs and feeling of community our show creates. We also give a special thank you to Pilsen Food Pantry and FigeuroaWu Family Foundation for their support. LAS LOCAS COMEDY AWARDED BEST BIPOC COMEDY SHOW AT LADY LAUGHS COMEDY SUMMIT

Las Locas Comedy is honored to be the recipient of the 2020 Lady Laughs Comedy Awards Best BIPOC Show award.  As part of the Lady Laughs Comedy Summit on November 7th, 2020, the Lady Laughs Comedy Awards were given to the top female identifying/queer/non-binary/trans comedians across the USA who are making an impact on stage and in their communities. This award is a great recognition of the hard work of the past four years that went into creating Las Locas Comedy productions and developing a mission to support Latina/Latinx comedic talent by providing live and online platforms for talent development, Latinx focused media and performance opportunities.

This award is a highlight of a very busy November which includes the season finale of Las Locas Live and  our fundraiser for Pilsen Food Pantry, ¡The Almost Done With 2020 Show! which goes live on Saturday 11/21/20 at 8pm CST. Tickets are still available via the Tickets menu link above.

LAS LOCAS COMEDY DELIVERS LAUGHS TO SUPPORT LATINO FOOD INSECURITY

Las Locas Comedy is proud to announce our next #ComedyforaCause  show, ¡The Almost Done With 2020 Show!, will stream live on Saturday November 21, 2020 at 8pm central time. Net proceeds from this show will benefit the great work of Pilsen Food Pantry whose mission is to fight food insecurity issues facing the residents of the Pilsen neighborhood in Chicago. Tickets are available now and also include a link to watch a recording of the show for a limited time after the live stream.

This show, produced in conjunction with Lady Laughs Comedy, will feature amazing Latina/Latinx comedians from across the USA. LAS LOCAS COMEDY STEPS UP TO THE NATIONAL STAGE IN A WORLD OF VIRTUAL COMEDY

While the move to virtual stand up comedy during the COVID-19 pandemic has been met with both praise and skepticism, Las Locas Comedy is taking advantage of opportunities that the physical boundaries of a “normal” world do not allow.

Chicago, IL – Las Locas Comedy, in partnership with Lady Laughs Comedy (Madison, WI), showcases Latina talent from across the country with Las Locas Comedy Presents: ¡La Calavera Show! on Saturday, October 17th at 8 pm (Central Time) at LadyLaughsComedy.com/LasLocasComedy. Chicago staple, Melissa Duprey (SEXomedy, Brown Girls), headlines this special edition of Las Locas Comedy.

Founder and producer, Janice V. Rodriguez, believes it is imperative to keep moving forward despite, and sometimes in spite of, the limitations caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. “I think it is more important than ever that we’re out here making people laugh while continuing to talk about important issues. Embracing the online format has allowed us to reach more people in different areas across the U.S. and stay active in the community versus just going dark because we can’t meet in person. It’s important that we’re still talking to our community through comedy,” said Rodriguez.

Their loyal following of “#Locas4Life” have not gone dark either and their efforts to adapt to the new normal have paid off. On September 19th, Las Locas Comedy Presents: The Real Cinco de Mayo Show drew an audience of over 60 people, comparable to in-person performances, and raised over $300 for Enlace Chicago in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Bringing Las Locas Comedy to a national audience with talent scouted from New York to LA is the latest in their digital transformation. Amy Colon (New Jersey/New York), Maria De La Ghetto (Los Angeles, CA), Crist Guzman (Dallas, TX), and Aniria Turney (Tampa, FL) join Duprey for an incomparable lineup.

About Las Locas Comedy

Las Locas Comedy is a Chicago-based Latina focused monthly comedy showcase originally founded by comedians Janice V. Rodriguez (janicevrodriguez.com) and Soli Santos and currently produced by Rodriguez and comedian Jess Martínez. The debut show in February 2017 was standing room only. Las Locas Comedy’s popularity and show attendance continued to grow with each subsequent show. Las Locas Comedy was started to create a platform and performance opportunities for Latina comedic talent and other female identifying/non binary comics in the Chicago area. It has been Chicago Reader Recommended and dubbed a “Must See Comedy Event” by Red Eye.
